Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is designed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to appear as being sent from another one, frequently with the objective to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide receive it. The record contains all e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an e-mail address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the specified domain, the message will not be forwarded and it will be discarded. When you employ this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam which look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

When you host your domain names in a website hosting account with us and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is accessible in a section of its own where you'll be able to view which domains are currently protected. For those that aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection option and manage various things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains use our MX records. The aforementioned choice is the most secure one, and it can be used when we manage the email addresses for your domain names and do not use a different email service provider. The newly generated records will propagate within a day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an e-mail using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, which comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, provides you with an exceptionally user-friendly interface to enable the SPF protection service for each domain name that you host inside your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you will only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send messages from your emails. If the email messages are managed on our end and not by a different provider, you can increase the security level even more and enable an option for all of the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names feature our MX records. This option gives you better control and it'll eliminate any possibility of anybody faking your email addresses with the objective of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable when only your website is hosted on our hi-tech cloud web hosting platform, while your emails are managed by a different provider. If you aren't sure what features to choose, our technical support team will assist you 24/7.
